Tiki has been in her foster home for two weeks now and her foster mom is completely in love with her! She is a petite girl who loves to play with her toys. She also absolutely loves meeting new people. Part of her charm is that Tiki is still such a young girl that she has lots of crazy antics, but that also means that she has an extra bit of mischievousness that requires a lot of mental and physical exercise. Tiki has proven to be such a smart girl and she is quickly learning how to be a great dog inside the house. She is learning commands such as “watch me” when she is outside and sees a critter. For those who read her initial write up, you saw that Tiki came to AABR after being abandoned in a home with two other dogs. Not surprisingly, she is a little protective of the resources in the home. For these reasons, Tiki should be placed with a confident male dog, her size or bigger, and with someone who will continue to teach her boundaries in the home and let her know she is safe. Tiki can also go into a home as an only dog. She is currently fostered in a condo environment, but she does struggle a bit on her walks when she sees wildlife. She needs an adopter who will be patient with her and give her consistent direction on walks. Tiki would love to have her own fenced yard.

We welcomed Tiki into rescue last weekend. She was removed from her home by animal control after being abandoned with two other dogs. They were found locked inside without any food or water. Tiki has since been brought up to date on all vet care and she is settling in well at her new foster home in Pennsylvania. She did wonderful in play groups with other dogs at the shelter and is currently in foster with a senior male boxer. We will update Tiki’s page once her foster mom gets to know her better.
