Rocky is a six year old boxer boy who was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter last month when his owner was not able to care for him due to his work and travel schedule.  The shelter reported that he is very sweet, loves children, and knows how to sit.  A volunteer that walked Rocky at the shelter indicated that he was super easy to leash up and he ignored the other dogs when walking past them.  An AABR adoptive family spotted him at the shelter and quickly agreed to foster him so he was safe.  Rocky arrived at his foster home in Maryland at the end of June.  His foster home reports that Rocky wags his nub frequently and is a very happy boy.  He is doing great with the senior female boxer (an AABR alum) in his foster home.  They walk nicely together on walks and nap together at home.  Rocky has settled into his foster family’s schedule smoothly.  He is housebroken and quickly mastered the dog door.  Rocky walks beautifully on leash without pulling.  He knows sit, stay, come, down, and shake.  Rocky’s favorite routine before breakfast is to play with his boxer sister outside and roll in the grass.  He loves to lay on the patio also and soak up the sun.  His other favorite activities are to give kisses and show off his boxer lean.  Rocky takes treats very gently – cheese cubes, liver treats, and carrot sticks with peanut butter are some of his favorites!  He does not whine or bark – he waits patiently while his meals are being prepared.  Rocky does amazing in the car while wearing his safety harness.

Rocky’s foster home noticed right away that he is in need of some significant dental care.  Our rescue vet examined Rocky and has referred him to a dental specialist.  Poor Rocky has firmly attached overgrowth that is impacting all of his lower canines and incisors, cracked teeth, and root exposure.  He is in the process of being scheduled with a specialist and we will be doing a fundraiser for him once we have an estimate for his surgery.  Rocky is currently on medical hold until his dental surgery is completed. Please consider donating towards his care so we can get this wonderful boy his permanent home after his surgery.
