Message for “Name a Dog” donation:
River was a German Short Haired Pointer.  He was the smartest dog and with that came the biggest attitude (my favorite quality about him!) When I lost my boxer, Jackson, River helped me through the loss. He was by my side every step of the way and healed parts of me I didn’t know needed healing. There were things I wished I did with my boxer and River was always up for the adventure to fill those wishes. He was the most special boy.  I lost him in September of this year and hope that by using his name for a pup in need this can keep his name alive forever.

We were able to help a second litter of puppies in rescue over the weekend. We were contacted by a breeder who was no longer able to care for the puppies. Thanks to the quick action of several volunteers, we were able to get all of the puppies into foster homes. They just turned 7 weeks old today and will be ready to go to their new homes next week (February 26th). Please make sure your home is a good match for a puppy this age before submitting an application. River will need somebody home often to work on his house training and socialization. He will need an active family that is willing to make a lifelong commitment for him. If there is another dog in the home, they need to be able to appreciate the energy and antics of a young puppy.

We will be reviewing all applications and looking for homes that understand and meet the needs of an 8 week old puppy. River is currently fostered in Maryland. We will continue to provide updated pictures and information about his progress in his foster home.
