It has been a month since Petros arrived at his foster home and he is now ready for his forever home!  Petros has been neutered and brought up to date on all vet care. His personality is starting to really come out!  He’s a sweet boy who loves to be moving around outdoors – he would love a fenced yard!  On his walks, Petros wants to meet every dog, especially little ones.  He is doing better when left alone during the work day.  Petros also has been doing well riding in a car.  He could be placed with another dog, but would also be fine as an only.  His foster mom reports that you would never guess he was a senior except for his silver hairs!

Petros has arrived at his new foster home in Virginia.  His foster mom reports that he is inquisitive and knows his basic commands.  He has been a little anxious, which is expected after everything he has recently gone through.  He loves walks and does well on leash with his harness.  Petros seems to love being outside.  He doesn’t seem to mind the busy streets and the traffic noise.  Petros seems to be relaxing more with each day.  We are getting him up to date with all vet care and then he will be ready for his forever home!

When Petros’ owner passed away, he went to the shelter and was placed on hold for a family member to pick him up.  Petros waited, but nobody came.  The shelter indicated that he hid in the corner and was very shut down in the scary shelter environment.  This senior boy lost everything he had known.  He was underweight and needed several medical issues addressed, including a severe ear infection and a scratch in his eye.  Even though he is very nervous, Petros has been gentle with everyone who handled him.  In the quieter office environment at the shelter, he has started to decompress, play with toys, and enjoy a Kong.  Petros can be a bit overenthusiastic and will give a full body hug, so older children may be best for him.  He has done well around other dogs at the shelter with slow introductions, although he often prefers to keep his distance.
