Thank you Kimberly McSparran

Eight years ago my sister Adrienne and her husband Jim rescued a boxer from the Westmoreland Humane Society, which had saved him from a West Virginia kill shelter. They named him Geno. Everyone loved him — the FedEx and UPS guys in their neighborhood brought him treats! As long as Geno stayed away from cats and balls (we never figured that one out), he was a phenomenal dog. He loved butt scratches, his spot on the couch looking out the front window, his duck toy, and his sun chair by my sister’s pool. Geno survived two mast cells over the years, one which required disfiguring facial surgery, and was down to his last two chemo treatments for lymphoma when he went into seizures this morning and the emergency vet discovered a brain tumor. Adrienne and Jim made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye. Geno was probably around ten years old. Geno was so loved and had such a wonderful life in the forever home my sister gave him. Rescue dogs deserve nothing less. He’ll be so missed.

Geno is a young male who was picked up on the streets of Philadelphia. He will be in foster in the West Chester area of PA with a female dog. More to come .
