9/15/24 – Memorial
When we picked Cocoa up from the shelter, we immediately noticed bloody stool.  We started with a vet visit to check her fecal for parasites.  After several samples and a visit to the emergency vet, it was determined that she needed specialty care.  Her foster mom was heartbroken that such a sweet girl had suffered for who knows how long.  Cocoa wanted to eat, but it upset her stomach.  AABR hired a transport company to take her from Pennsylvania to Guardian Vet Specialists in New York.  After a week at the specialty vet, it was sadly determined that it was cancer.  Cocoa continued to lose weight and we knew we had to let her go.  Her ashes will come back to her foster home.  Thank you to all of the love poured out for Cocoa and all of the donors who helped with her care.

Cocoa was left at a high kill shelter when she was no longer needed. With only hours to save her, we had volunteers pull her out of the shelter. We are having Cocoa fully vetted and will get to know more about her.
