9/23/24 – Memorial
Bruce came to AABR emaciated and heartworm positive.  Within days of arriving at his foster home, Bruce had a seizure.  We rushed him to our trusted veterinary partner.  Sadly, an MRI revealed an inoperable brain tumor.  His neurology team was able to control his seizures with medications.  Bruce was always a gentleman.  He learned to do puzzles, smile, run, relax on the couch, and even chase balls.  He loved having his face washed, doggie ice cream, bananas, pineapples, tuna sandwiches, as well as regular meals.  Bruce never growled, always shared, and got along with everyone.  His seizures intensified and his medications were no longer effective.  Along with his team of neurologists, we made the heart wrenching decision to help him pass.  Bruce left the physical world with his foster mom by his side.  We will remember Bruce as he recently was – a happy go lucky boy that enjoyed his new found life here with us in rescue.  Bruce leaves behind his foster mom, fur foster sister Freya, and the volunteers and supporters who rallied for him.

3/19/24 – Update
Bruce is a hospice case. Sadly, he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. His foster mom is taking excellent care of him along with his neurology team.

Bruce lived a miserable existence before arriving to the safety of our rescue. He spent the best years of his life chained out in a yard in the blazing heat and frigid temperatures with nothing but a flimsy dog house to offer him shelter. Upon his arrival to rescue, we quickly learned he is a sweet, gentle soul. He wants nothing more than to be near his people and he loves to give paw. He is looking for a foster or adoptive home to help him heal. He has received all of his vaccines and has been neutered. Sadly Bruce is heartworm positive, which is all too common for dogs forced to live outside.  Lucky for Bruce, treating heart disease is something we are really good at. We have it down to a science and cover all expenses involved in the treatment.
