6/12/25 – Memorial
Savannah’s foster mom noticed that she would only eat a few small bites of shredded chicken and her health was declining.  At her recheck appointment with our rescue vet, we found out from updated labwork that Savannah was already in advanced kidney failure.  We made the difficult decision to end her suffering and Savannah’s foster mom remained by her side.  Although she was only in rescue a week, Savannah touched the hearts of many volunteers.  We are thankful she was able to pass in the loving arms of her foster mom and not in the shelter.  Rest in peace, sweet girl!

Savannah was found as a stray in really bad shape and taken to a shelter in West Virginia.  They immediately took her to a vet, who estimated Savannah to be around 11 years of age.  She was heartworm positive, lyme positive, and loaded with parasites.  Savannah also had a kidney infection and urinary tract infection.  Her body condition was rated as 1.5 out of 5.  Even with all the health issues Savannah was dealing with, she continued to wag her nub nonstop.  We began treatment at the shelter, and then transported Savannah to her foster home in Virginia.  Her foster mom indicated that she is such a loving and trusting girl.  We are getting her set up soon with our rescue vet to monitor her progress.
