Meeko received his FHO surgery on 6/13/24, which requires 8 weeks of recovery. The surgeon that completed that surgery felt that the injury likely happened earlier than we were originally told.  Meeko has a significant amount of atrophy in his left leg.  He initially struggled to put weight on his leg following the surgery, so Meeko began to receive rehab twice a week. The goal of rehab is to decrease the pain and inflammation and rebuild his muscle mass to support mobility. Meeko recently started water therapy, which has been very helpful for him. We are happy to report that he is now consistently putting his left hind leg down as of this week!  He will continue his rehab sessions and will have a follow up with the surgeon in a few weeks.  Meeko has made such good progress with this rehab therapy and with the consistent support of his foster family.  His hair has finally grown back in from his previous neglect and he is starting to get to a healthy weight.   Although he will be remaining with his foster family for adoption, AABR is working hard to get him to a full recovery.  If you want to donate to Meeko’s rehab, he could use your support.  He has been through so much and has a great future ahead of him!

Meeko has arrived at his new foster home and is settling in well. He is very thin and is missing hair from his previous neglect. Despite the trauma he endured, Meeko remains the sweetest boy and everyone who has met him has fallen in love. Meeko visited the specialty hospital today for a consult appointment. He is scheduled to receive an FHO surgery tomorrow for his hip. We will need to raise $4000 to cover his surgery, and additional costs will be also be needed for his rehab. Please help us raise money to give Meeko a better future.

Meeko and Lettie have suffered neglect and trauma. After being hit by a car, they ended up at a shelter in West Virginia and were in danger of being euthanized. Thankfully, they were transferred quickly to an animal center in Maryland who reached out to us to see if we could help these two. Meeko’s initial x-rays reveal a dislocated hip. He will be arriving at his new foster home this weekend and will be seeing the orthopedic specialist next week to determine a plan of care. Meeko has been brought up to date on vaccines, is being treated for hookworms, and he will need to gain some weight. We will update Meeko’s page with better pictures and more information once he arrives in foster. Please consider donating toward his care.
