Rocky is definitely settling
in. He knows the routine and seems to love his crate now. He runs right in
when I throw a treat in there and lays down quietly. He is the "master" of
sit and knows he needs to sit for any treat. He will go and lay down on a
dog bed if he wants his belly rubbed. It is really pretty cute!! He still
gives wonderful hugs and nudges your arm to pet him if you are in reach.
His nub still goes 100 mph when you are petting him and never slows down.
Rocky loves to play with my other dogs, but loves my time as well. He is
typically the first dog in from going outside and likes for you to walk out
with him in the morning. I think he doesn't want to be left outside
anymore. He will bark to get back in and makes sure you know he's there.
Although Rocky is doing well in foster, he would love a forever home of his
own! Apply today for Rocky.
Rocky's age may say he's 8
years old, but he doesn't act like it. I think you are getting the best of
both worlds in Rocky. He has energy to play and run, but is gentle and
trained already. When he looks up at you with those brown eyes, it just
makes you melt.
Rocky loves to play with my dogs and he wants them to play too. He will
play bow, roll over, and grunt at them to let them know he wants to play.
He is very interested in toys and will usually grab one to take outside with
him. About half the time, he even brings it back in. He does like to see
you when he's outside, so sometimes I need to walk out the door with him.
He has not had an accident in the house and goes to the back door to let you
know he needs out.
Rocky is jumping up on me less, now that his heartworm treatment is done
and he is off all restrictions - but he still gets excited and wants to give
you a hug. He loves to run in the back yard and he is a fast boy. He can
outrun my 1 year old lab/shepherd. Rocky runs to his crate to tell me he
wants me to let them play together. I think he would benefit from having
another dog to play with. He seems happier now that he can play with them
after his 4 weeks of heartworm treatment, and it gives him a way to expend
Rocky does bark when strangers are in the house, but settles down once he
meets them. Rocky also needs work on his counter surfing. He is a
strong boy on a leash. I would highly recommend a harness, probably an Easy
Walker or something that hooks in the front. He does turn around and pull
backwards when he wants to go a different direction when walking or trying
to pull you towards something. I think he'd slip a collar very easily and
some conventional harnesses too.
Rocky is the sweetest boy. He is very gentle and takes treats gently. I
don't think he quite realizes how big he is. He loves to bury his head
in you when you pet the back of his neck. He wiggles his nub so fast when
you are talking to him or touching him. Rocky is food motivated and
eager to please. This is a great combination for training.
Rocky has settled in very
quickly at his foster home. He is housebroken, eager to please, and
easy going. Rocky loves attention, but settles down close if you are
busy doing other things. Rocky has learned to sit at the front door
before going out. It has been wonderful to watch him discover new
things at the house. Rocky is strong on leash, but does better with a
harness. He has met new children and adults, and has done well with
everyone. Rocky even got to dress up early in his Halloween costume.
Rocky has received his
heartworm treatment and is now in his new foster home. He is recovering well
and is feeling great! He has a great appetite and is taking his medication
very well. Rocky is a very easy going boxer who is great with both large and
small dogs. He is very quiet, even when the other dogs are barking. Rocky
likes to give hugs and he just wants to lean on you and let you pet him.
Rocky knows his basic commands and is completely housebroken. He needs
encouragement to get in the crate, but does well once in there. Rocky loves
belly rubs and carrying his toys around. He is going to be a wonderful
addition to a home - apply today for Rocky!
Rocky is an 8 year old fawn boxer who was surrendered to the shelter
along with a Shih Tzu because the owner could no longer care for them. No
information was left about Rocky by his previous home. The shelter
reports that Rocky is great with other dogs. He is playful and when tested
with a dog who snapped at him - Rocky just ignored him and went about his
business. Rocky is also a very sweet boy with people.
Rocky is heartworm positive and will be receiving his treatment soon.
Please consider donating toward his medical expenses. Rocky will then
be moving to his new foster home, where he can recover from his treatment.
Rocky's foster mom will update his page once she learns more about him.
Thank you for your interest in this sweet boy!
